Elene Abashidze was born on March 18, 1922 in Chiatura. Her life was never easy. Left fatherless at the age of 14 with her mother, who was forbidden to work in a state institution, Shhe was able to get an education and fight for great goals. She chose a quiet, well-paid job at the Perevis School of Education and the Ministry of Agriculture to go on expeditions and decided to dedicate his life to science.
In 1998 and 2003, the International Institute of American Biography awarded her the title of "Woman of the Year".
